At long last, the Jesuit Cultural Center Book Club will be revived. What better way to start than with the great writer Naguib Mahfouz? The writer is exposed to different philosophies, such as his philosophy of reason, freedom, and thought in his novel The Heart of the Night.
The novel has been turned into a movie – produced in 1989 – and the premiere was on 2 October of the same year. The film is directed by Atef El-Tayeb, starring Farid Shawky, Nour El-Sherif, Hala Sedky, Mahmoud El-Gendy and other artists.
The club is group-based and discussion-based. Therefore, it will be important to read the book, watch the film, and prepare thoughts, ideas, or impromptu writings about this work of art, as your contribution is essential to our book club!
