“Araq El-Balah” is a precious and indispensable cinematic masterpiece in the list of the major Egyptian films. The film takes place in a small village in Upper Egypt, where the women face enormous challenges after the arrival of a stranger who is pursuing the village’s men to work abroad leaving behind a helpless grandfather and his young grandson Ahmed as the only men in the village. The village’s women find themselves in the face of disasters that were always hidden behind the actions of men. This film presents what comes close to an “Aligoria ” or a symbolic story showcasing the Egyptians migration during the 1970s.
