Celebrating World Philosophy Day
November 21-22, 2024
Beit Al-Hayat in Alexandria invites you to celebrate World Philosophy Day at the Jesuit Cultural Center in Alexandria.
Over two days, we will explore the true meaning of philosophy through various activities, artistic works, and engaging and distinctive readings. There will also be an opportunity to get to know Beit Al-Hayat and the “Philosophy in Simple Terms” platform and the content we offer.

Beit Al-Hayat is a philosophy school in the classical sense. We are interested in freeing philosophy from its theoretical academic prison and returning it to its traditional place: the public sphere, as a practical life practice that encompasses all areas of human knowledge. The focus on values such as truth, beauty, and the common good is a universal human concern.

Beit Al-Hayat is a space that makes philosophy accessible to everyone, regardless of their field of expertise or social status, and without discrimination based on gender, color, or religion. Beit Al-Hayat is a space for learning through dialogue and collaborative work, a space to discover the self and understand the other.
We aim to bring about change within ourselves and in the world around us, adopting the words of poet Amal Dunqul as our slogan: “It is nothing but that you desire… you are the only knight of this time.”

Philosophy in Simple Terms is a platform under Beit Al-Hayat dedicated to “public philosophy,” which is the practice of philosophy in non-academic, public spaces. We provide readable, visual, and auditory content that stimulates thought and develops critical thinking.
