Independent Alexandrian musical experiences in the twentieth century following the approach of Sayed Darwish.
Ahmed Hafez
Born in Alexandria in 1972, he has been a member of Massar Egbari since 2004 until present. He has contributed to the return of the independent musical bands movement since the nineties. He graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts, Alexandria University, specialising in Sculpture. He founded a pottery factory, where he worked for 10 years. He later worked as a curator of the permanent plastic arts exhibitions at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, which he co-founded. He co-founded the “Khaled Shams and Sea Companions” during his university studies in the nineties. He was a member of the last generation of the “Love and Peace”, which is considered one of the first Arabic music groups. He was a member of the “Khaled Shams and Friends of the Sea” team in the early 2000s. He wrote music for children’s films and plays, and these works won international awards and were shown in several countries. He gave several lectures on the history of orchestras and the history of music in general, motivated by the nature of his work in the field of museums, and the fact that he was contemporary with the era of early musical groups in Egypt, and a participant and close to more than one important experience in the field of independent music production in Alexandria: Nabil Al-B Qali and the team of love and peace / Fadi Iskandar / Khaled Shams / Obligatory track team.
