About Event:

Excerpt from “The Original Text”:

“God created us as nations and tribes so that we may know one another. As for the writer, they create texts so that we may know ourselves. The translator, in turn, creates a parallel text. First, because they love to torment themselves; second, to earn their reward; and finally, so that we may come to know the writer and ourselves. The soul of a human is a divine mystery. The soul of the original text is a stubborn mystery, but if you open your heart to it, it will reveal itself before your eyes.”

Mohamed El-Fouly places his book “The Original Text” within the genre of a “translational biography,” where he explores translation and its intersections with his personal and professional life.
