We will also examine how folk tales and myths intersect with modern literature in shaping collective consciousness and defining cultural identities.
Additionally, we will discuss life in Egypt during Ramadan and whether Sudanese rituals differ from Egyptian ones during the holy month.
We invite you to join a discussion with the distinguished Sudanese writer about his unique novelistic experience. The dialogue will be moderated by writer and critic Mohamed Omar Genady.
Hammour Ziada’s works will be available for signing during the event, including his latest novel, *”The Incident of Aish Al-Saraya… and Related Amusing Events,”* giving attendees the opportunity to purchase signed copies by the author.
*About the Writer and Novelist Hammour Ziada:*
Hammour Ziada is a Sudanese writer and journalist born in Khartoum, Sudan, in 1977. He has worked in voluntary work, civil society, and several Sudanese newspapers, including *”Al-Mustaqilla,”* *”Ajras Al-Hurriya,”* and *”Al-Jareeda.”* He headed the cultural section of the Sudanese newspaper *”Al-Akhbar.”* He has published several works, including *”An Omdurman Biography”* (short story collection, 2008), *”The Kong”* (novel, 2010), and *”Sleeping at the Foot of the Mountain”* (short story collection, 2014). His second novel, *”The Longing of the Dervish”* (2014), won the Naguib Mahfouz Medal for Literature in 2014 and was longlisted for the International Prize for Arabic Fiction in 2015. His latest novel was published concurrently with the latest edition of the Cairo International Book Fair this year, 2025, titled *”The Incident of Aish Al-Saraya… and Related Amusing Events.”*
