Things are not always as they seem, nor are people. Each of us has a personality unknown to many, and it’s only when we strip ourselves bare that the masks fall off, one by one. Can miracles happen? Does satire alleviate the weight of pain? These are the questions posed by the novel “Where Shall We Go, My Father?” which takes us on a journey of pain and satire about reality and fear of the future.

We invite you to attend the book club discussion of “Where Shall We Go, My Father?” by the author Jean-Louis Fournier, winner of the 2008 Femina Prize, on Wednesday, April 24th, at 7 p.m.

Brief about the event host: Dr. Mennat Allah El-Mashrefi

• Ph.D. in National Institute of Oceanography.
• Authored numerous articles in Al-Khabar Newspaper
• Participated in storytelling nights such as “نظريات منفردة- Unique Theories” and “اصحى يا نايم- Wake Up, Sleeper” as part of “باب الحكايات – Bab Elhekayat” and “العصا السحرية- The Magic Stick” events, and presented “الصحة النفسية- Mental Health” storytelling at the Jesuit Cultural Center
• Night of storytelling “ضحك ولعب وجد- Laugh, Play, Discover” and “Matryoshka” at Sofita
• Graduate of the “Tales Factory” at the Jesuit Cultural Center
• Participated in playwriting and improvisational theater workshops.
• Participated in an environmental storytelling workshop in the ClimAct project with Banlastic Foundation, Exeter University, Les Têtes de l’Art Foundation, and Perform.
• Participated in the presentation “سيبنهالكم مخضرة” at the former Swedish Institute and the French Cultural Center in 2022
• Graduate of the Oasis” واحة” School, Class of 2022
• Founder of the “Neighbor Moon Podcast – جارة القمر”
