Rai -نا is a band of incredibly talented Egyptian musicians who love the Rai music genre
popular in North African countries like Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia, and Libya. The idea was conceived by Nour Ebid, the lead guitarist, and Sherif Salem, the bass guitarist, both of whom grew up in Libya and were big fans of Rai music. Quickly they added Abdallah Sherif, a fellow drummer from Transistor Band, as well as Ayman Ramadan, a keyboard and piano player from Transistor Band, also joined the group. After a short time, Moaz Askar was added to play the percussion and tabla.
The band was complete when they added the perfect vocalist to sing Rai tunes with their unique accent and lyrics in French and Arabic. Mohamed Biumy, an original voice from the heart of Egypt, was the perfect fit for the band. He was able to sing such tunes professionally as he was raised singing Nubian songs, which have a similar style and difficulty to Rai songs. Mohamed Biumy has also worked with Kitkat Band and Sahra, a famous Egyptian Rai Band.
